Egypt/birthday
Before coming to Cairo, I knew I would have my birthday here. At first I was worried that I wouldn’t have a good time, because most of my friends reside in Sacramento. However, I made plenty of new friends here, so it turned out I could still have a kick ass party.

As it turns out, one of my friends here, Anne, has the same birthday as me. So, we decided to have a joint hafla at the Hard Rock Café in Cairo. It was insane, our reservation was for 40 people, yet that still wasn’t enough room for everybody that showed up. The food was delicious, some of the best in Cairo, and the atmosphere was awesome. Halfway through our meal, the whole staff got us to have a random ass dance party in the middle of the restaurant for like 10 minutes. After that insanity, we went back to eating like nothing had happened. It was the most random dance party ever!

Egypt/Random
Well, last week there was a huge sandstorm here in Cairo. It was very strange, everything gradually turned orange, and visibility was drastically decreased. Also with the combination of the smog already blanketing Cairo and the clouds in the sky, the heat from the sun was trapped and the temperature rose almost 10 degrees (Fahrenheit). All I can say is that it was wacky. I took some pictures during the peak of it all, and yes the coloring in the pictures are exactly the way it looked.
